Fishing the ocean waters off Cape Lookout and the Crystal Coast is one of the most surprisingly productive experiences on the Eastern Seaboard. The beaches from Emerald Isle to Cape Lookout, commonly called the Crystal Coast, live up to their name with clear, calm water and fishery variety that puts many offshore destinations to shame.
The nearshore grounds here are loaded with structure: natural reefs, artificial wrecks, live bottom, and sweeping inlets that funnel baitfish and predators into tight, fishable areas. You can find tremendous action without ever losing sight of the beach, though when conditions are right, we can stretch our legs and get out there.
Captain Will runs these trips on the Bluewater 23T, a purpose-built ocean fishing machine with a deep-V hull, a huge livewell, and a 300hp Suzuki outboard to get you to the action quickly and comfortably.
Whether we are trolling for kings, working a live bait for cobia, jigging the wrecks for amberjack, or bottom fishing for black sea bass and flounder, the Crystal Coast nearshore fishery delivers. A full day unlocks the most range and opportunity, A full day (8hrs) is the best trip for chance of success and variety, as we will have more range and options, but we offer 3/4 day (6hr) and 1/2 day (4hr) trips as well for quick family vacation trips etc. These shorter trips will focus on fish that are available closer to the inlet and will likely employ only one or a couple tactics.
Captain Will will always work with you on what you want to target, but he will also give you his honest recommendation based on current conditions. Trust your captain. He wants you to catch fish just as much as you do.
Common catches include: King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Amberjack, Bluefish, Flounder, Black Sea Bass, Sharks, Atlantic Bonito, False Albacore (seasonal)
